Out with the old and in with the new! Watch as I clean out my closet to make room for fall and winter wear. I also share my tips for how to decide whether or not to get rid of an item. View them below the video!
1) Do you LOVE it? Or can you live without it? The item should spark joy and enthusiasm when you pick it up.
2) Does it FIT and FLATTER you? Is it your current size and do you like the way the garment sits on your body? Does it accent the best parts of you and suit your shape? As for that item you’ve been saying you would take to the tailor for months, either let it go or set a deadline by which you have to take it or trash it.
3) Is it a wardrobe STAPLE, for example a classic black blazer or a versatile pair of dark jeans?
4) Assess the CONDITION. Is it ripped, stained, faded, or just look too worn?
If you find it challenging to get rid of things or to keep your stuff organized, I also really enjoyed this book, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo, available on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2Sp3oEZ. It helped me to detach from items and really identify whether or not they spark joy in my life or I’m just holding onto them for other reasons.
Cheers to an organized closet and a happy life! Let me know if you guys have any other suggestions on closet cleanouts in the comments.
